The idea for[Create]Faith came to me through my work as a fashion and lifestyle writer.
I spent my days interviewing designers, artists, and many other types of creatives and, though we would cover many topics, the subject would inevitably shift to their inspirations. Most would go to great lengths to describe the ways they seek out their muse, but some would greet my question with reluctance. I could see the nervousness on their faces as they searched for the right words, as opposed to the full truth.
Then, they would utter a phrase that both annoyed and saddened me…
“I don’t want to get too spiritual but…”
They didn’t want to get too spiritual with a reporter.
They didn’t want to get too spiritual with a rep from a major magazine.
They didn’t want to get too spiritual with someone whose beliefs they couldn’t pinpoint.
They didn’t want to get too spiritual with me.
Of the individuals I had the honor to interview, most were emerging talent not wanting to offend or be labeled a Jesus freak so early in their budding career.
To combat their concerns, I would greet their fear with my testimony. I would spend the next few minutes telling them how God used my creative talent to unlock the strength He deposited in me 30 some odd years ago. I would share that my “Yes” to His will and His way was why I was sitting in front of them at that moment living out my dream. And, above all, I took the time to assure them that this was a safe place where they could share their beliefs.
The normal reaction was a mixture of relief and joy. Tears welled in the eyes of one young lady as she poured out her love for God for the first time in public.
I, of course, could not chronicle the complete story in my article. But, I filed each experience away, hoping to come back someday.
[Create]Faith is that day.
As a platform for spirit-led creative artist to be equipped, empowered, and elevated, my hope is that we now feel free to share the whole story. Free to talk about being a successful artist working in this world and, simultaneously, a sold out believer dedicated to God.You can tell your story here. You can share your art here. You can talk about your God here.
Through the [Create]Faith social media platforms, blog, podcast, and whatever else God lights upon my head, I hope to see spirit-led creatives move to the forefront. I want the world to see who we really are and what we can do. I also want those wanting to support people like us to be able to connect with our community.
But, more than anything, I want this to be a new tribe. Our tribe.
This is going to be fun!
