I have a method to my bracket madness.
I am a writer - I believe I have made mention of that fact a few times in the past. As a writer, I use punctuation on the regular. A simple dash or dot to some has a lot of meaning to me. I love semicolons for their "but wait, there's more!" attitude. And, because I tend to make a lot of side comments when I write, the hyphen is my best friend.
As for brackets, they are mainly used to enclose words added by someone other than the original writer or speaker, typically in order to clarify the situation (thanks Oxford Dictionary). They are the way in which we add information to transform a statement from general info to detailed account.
"He visited to the hospital" has a different meaning and visual interest when you change it to "He [Santa Claus] went to hospital." All of a sudden, you can visualize a story, instead of just receiving data.
So why have I used brackets in the name [Create]Faith?
Because I understand that just using the word "create" can in no way encompass all the ways humans use art to express themselves and interpret the world around them. We don't just [Create]Faith,
we [Draw] Faith
we [Film] Faith
we [Script] Faith
we [Paint] Faith
we [Sing] Faith
we [Carve] Faith
we [Design] Faith
we [Sculpt] Faith
And the list goes on and on.
I knew I needed a way for others to see themselves in the [Create]Faith platform, so I used the power of the bracket to open the door. This place isn't just for me, it is for all of us and I wanted to make that known from the start.
